Reproduction of a Roman cingulum-buckle.
This reproduction of a magnificent Roman cingulum-buckle, that you can buy here, is based on an historical find from the 1st century AD.
Belt buckles like this one were typical for the so-called cingulum, the belt of Roman legionaries, and are therefore found in large numbers in the finds of the Roman period.
Such richly studded military belts distinguished the Roman legionary from the civilian even without armour and weapons - the belt was, so to speak, proof of his profession.
The dimensions of the Roman buckle are 8 x 5.3 cm.
The rivet plate measures 6 cm.
The Roman cingulum buckle is suitable for 4 cm wide belts.
Mate from zinc casting in brass or silver color.
The cingulum buckle has four rivet pins on the back. To fasten them, simply put on small caps enclosed with the buckle and attach them to the belt with a few light taps.
