Lace tag / aglet of the late Middle Ages.
Here you can buy a medieval lace tag of sheet brass, which was made according to historical models from the late Middle Ages.
From the end of the High Middle Ages through the Late Middle Ages to the beginning of the Renaissance, the aglet called lace tag was an essential part of the garment. It was absolutely indispensable because medieval garments were usually equipped with an abundance of lacing.
The lace tag was immensely helpful in guiding the long ribbons through the countless eyelets of the robe. In the Middle Ages, the lace tag was typically simply sewn to the ribbon or riveted to it with a small piece of wire.
To close the garment, holes were simply pierced in the fabric and then hemmed with buttonhole stitch to prevent fraying or tearing of the fabric. Or the fabric was provided with a metal eyelet through which the ribbon was threaded with the help of the aglet.
The small medieval lace tag is made of sheet brass and is 3.5 cm long.
The diameter is 4 mm.
