Detailed replica of a cap tip for a viking cap.
This high-quality replica of a cap tip from the Viking era is made of bronze, true to detail and based on the historical model from the Viking town of Birka.
Such cap tips were typical for the headgear of the Swedish Vikings who settled and traded along the big rivers in the west of Russia, the Gardarike at that time, and were called Rus, probably after the Norman term for rowers or a rowing crew.
The Viking cap has Magyar costume components as a model, as can be found on belt and bag fittings from the Viking era. The original was probably made in Kiev.
The originals of the Viking cap tip from Birka were found in two richly equipped burials from the 10th century (graves 581 and 644), which were located on the isle of Björkö in the middle of the Swedish Lake Mälaren and were a large trading place for the Vikings from the East.
The cap tip measures 6 x 3.5 cm and has four holes that allow the tip to be sewn on the end of the Viking cap with a few stitches.
Our Viking cap tip from Birka is made from high-quality cast bronze and is also available in a genuine silver-plated version.
The original of the Birka cap tip was, in contrast to our one-piece cast replica, made of pure silver and in elaborate filigree work.
