Early Medieval seax blade.
That seax blade was made from of 256 layered damascus steel according to early-medieval finds of the 5th to 7th Century.
The seax blade is forged from 256 layered damascus steel and comes well sharpened.
The hardness of the blade is 58 to 60 HCR Rockwell.
The damascus blade is made from two different types of steel: At the one hand AISI 4340 which is a hard tempered steel that has a low carbon content, that also contains molybdenum in addition to nickel and chromium with high toughness.
At the other hand 15N20 a nickel-containing steel with good properties, which gives beautiful bright areas and good contrasts when used in damascus steel. Both steels together produce a beautifully flamed damascus steel. Each piece is one-of-a-kind and has its individual damascus pattern.
