Sax making kit with high-carbon steel blade.

This kit for an Alemannic sax makes it easy to craft a unique sax to your own taste.

The sax crafting kit includes a carbon steel sax blade, building instructions and various materials for the knife handle and leather for making a sax scabbard.

The Germanic sax blade is made of 1095 high carbon steel, a classic among knife steels. This steel is quite tough and grinds very well, with a solid service life. 1095 is an unalloyed and not rust-resistant tool steel.

With a hardness of 54 - 56 HRC Rockwell and a carbon content of 0.90 to 1.03 % with a manganese content of 0.3 to 0.5 % this sax blade s indeed hard to break down and a reliable "workhorse" - hard, flexible, unbreakable!

We recommend keeping the sax blade dry and treating it occasionally with a little oil to prevent possible flash rust.

The sax making kit has the following components:
1 sax blade 44 x 3.5 cm / cutting edge 32 cm
1 walnut wood block 12 x 4 x 3 cm
1 brass plate 4 x 3 cm
1 bone plate 4 x 3 cm
1 horn plate 4 x 3 cm
3 leather pieces 4 x 3 cm
2 metal rings for the belt loops 4.2 x 2.9 cm
1 pieces grain leather for the sheath 40 x 20 cm
2 pieces grain leather for the belt loops 22 x 4 cm
2 leather cords 70 cm
2 sewing needles
1 waxed sewing thread 250 cm
