Traditional lucet made of wood.
Handmade wooden lucet - Traditional knitting tool for weaving cords and strings as in the Middle Ages.
The lucet is made from a single piece of wood and the surface is carefully smoothed and polished.
The dimensions of the lucet are 16 x 4,5 x 1 cm, with a hole of 5 mm diameter.
Knitting tools were already common in the Middle Ages and were used to weave strings and cords, as many finds of historical knitting forks show.
Weaving with a lucet is quite easy and quick to learn. It is also not necessary to cut the thread to a specific length, which is quite practical as it allows you to make a cord of any length without having to decide on the size beforehand. Different techniques and variations can also be used to weave cords in different colours and styles.
