Small Viking horseshoe brooch for winningas.

This pretty, small horseshoe brooch is perfectly suitable for closing winningas / puttees or the shirt necklines due to its small size.

In the Viking Age in particular, it was common in Scandinavia and Anglo-Saxon England to wear knee-high puttees, so-called winnigas of linen or wool to protect the trousers and provide additional warmth and to close them with a special puttee hook or a small horseshoe brooch.

The Viking winningas brooch has a horseshoe shape and ends that are rolled up on both sides to ensure that the fibula remains securely closed and cannot open on its own.

The winmingas brooch has an outer diameter of 2.2 cm. Needle length 3 cm.

You can buy the Viking brooch in high-quality bronze or genuine silver-plated.
