Viking Ship Brooch from Lillevang / Bornholm.

Here you can buy the authentic replica of the Viking ship brooch from Bornholm, a Viking brooch in the shape of a Viking ship.

This expressive Viking brooch was made true to detail after the Viking ship brooch from Lillevang on Bornholm / Denmark and corresponds in shape and size almost to the historical model.

The brooch was found in a woman's grave and dates to the 9th century.

The original ship brooch from Lillevang is now in the Danish National Museum in Copenhagen. A very similarly shaped Viking ship brooch, but different in its design, was also found at Tjornehoj II on Funen.

On the ship brooch, the details of a Viking ship are very visible, such as the superimposed planks ending in curved stems with dragon heads and the round shields lined up along the railing, as well as the mast on which there is a face.

The Viking ship brooch by Lillevang is made of high-quality cast bronze and is also available in genuine silver-plated. On the back is a solid needle construction that makes the brooch suitable for strong fabrics, as well as an eyelet for a necklace.

The Bornholm ship brooch measures 5.5 x 3.8 cm.

Ships played an important role in the culture of the Vikings and were therefore often the subject of literature and art in the North. Depictions of ships can already be found on Bronze Age rock paintings, many centuries before the Vikings.

In the Viking Age, entire stone monuments in the form of ships were erected for deceased princes, and Viking kings were even given complete wooden ships in their graves.

Thus, the ship not only played an important role for the Norse in the present, but also in the afterlife.
