Large Viking mount after the so-called Pitney brooch.
This Viking decorative rivet is modelled on the so-called Pitney brooch, an Anglo-Saxon brooch in the Urnes style,
The Viking Pitney mount is an exceptionally beautiful decoration on historical bags or Viking belts or other leather items.
The large Viking fitting is available in brass or silver-coloured cast zamak.
Diameter of the Pitney decorative mount: 5 cm.
There are three 5 mm long pins on the back of the Viking mount, onto which a small cap (supplied) is simply placed and fixed in place with a few hammer blows.
The Pitney brooch is designed in the Urnes style, the last of the seven major art styles of the Viking Age, and is dated to the middle of the 11th century. The name of this art style goes back to the famous stave church of Urnes in southern Norway, where magnificent carvings in this striking animal style have survived to this day.
The Urnes style is particularly typical of jewellery from the late Viking Age, e.g. openwork brooches and brooches with wonderfully intertwined bodies, which can be found throughout the finds from Ireland to Russia.
