Mount with a gripping beast motif from the Viking Age.
This striking mount in the style of the Viking Age is modelled on a historic find from Hordaland in Norway from the 9th century.
The small gripping beast mount is a very beautiful accessory for studding Viking belts or bags. Perfect for authentic Viking re-enactment.
The Viking Age decorative rivet gripping animal is available in brass or silver-coloured cast zamak.
Diameter of the gripping beast mount: 2.4 cm
There is a 5 mm long pin on the back, onto which a small, supplied cap is simply placed and fixed in place with light hammer blows.
The gripping animal was an immensely popular symbol in the Viking Age, which characterised many areas of Viking Age art for over 150 years. Even after such a long time, it did not disappear from customs, but continued to dominate Viking art in many variations and modifications.
The main features of the griffin are the claws, which clasp a frame, themselves or the animals surrounding them. The origin of the griffin is not fully understood, but it was widely used in jewellery and woodwork from the 9th century onwards, as the famous Viking ship find from Oseberg proves.
