Hanger for a seax scabbard of the Viking Age.
This replica of a Viking Age fitting for a seax scabbard is made after a historical model from the Viking town of Birka / Sweden.
Fittings of this type are known from various places in the Viking Age, including Birka and Gotland, and were used on leather seax scabbards to attach a belt loop.
The seax scabbard suspension measures 2.5 x 2.3 cm.
The ring measures 2 cm in diameter.
Made of high-quality cast bronze.
Two brass pins are included to attach the suspension to the seax scabbard. To mount them, simply pass them through two holes in the leather and shorten them about 1 mm above the fitting with a side cutter.
Then tap the pins with a hammer in a circular motion to permanently attach the fitting to the seax scabbard.
