Suspension for a Viking sax scabbard.
Here you can buy an authentic suspension for a sax scabbard that was made after a model from the Viking town of Birka / Sweden.
Scabbard suspensions of this kind are known from several places of the Viking Age, among others also from Birka and Gotland. They were used on Sax scabbards as a connection between the scabbard and the belt loop.
The scabbard suspension consists of a set with a large fitting for the sax scabbard, a connecting ring and a small fitting for the belt loop.
The large fitting measures 2.5 x 2.3 cm, the small one 2 x 1.5 cm. The ring measures 1.8 cm.
All parts are made of high-quality bronze casting or real silver-plated.
Four brass pins are included to attach the suspensions to the Sax scabbard. To mount them, simply pass them through the respective holes in the leather and shorten them about 1 mm above the fitting with a side cutter.
You can then tap the pins with a hammer in a circular motion to permanently attach the fitting to the sax scabbard.
