Leather scales made of nubuck leather in rectangular shape.
Here you can buy medieval style leather scales made of supple yet strong nubuck leather.
The leather scales made of nubuck leather are 1.5 - 2 mm thick and therefore perfectly suitable for making light and mobile scale armour. Ideal for the Middle Ages and LARP.
Each scale is prepared with 2 holes on one narrow side. This makes it easy to sew or rivet the scale onto the desired backing material, such as fabric or leather, overlapping.
The dimensions of the leather scale are 8.5 x 4.5 cm, the hole size is 3 mm.
The colours black, brown and dark red are available. The colour can vary slightly tone-in-tone, which results in a nice colour effect and makes each scale an absolutely unique piece!
The pack contains 50 leather scales of one colour each.
Leather scales have been used to make scale armour since ancient times by the Persians, Greeks and Romans and were still in use by the Byzantines and Vikings until the late Middle Ages. In addition to armour scales made of leather, those made of bronze, iron and even bone or horn were also used.
