Viking belt fitting in Mammen style.
Here you can buy an authentic replica of a Viking belt fitting in the so-called Mammen style.
Link to the original belt fitting...
Belt fittings were very common in the Viking Age and are often found in the finds. Especially among the eastern Vikings in Sweden, Gotland and Russia, very richly studded belt fittings are often found as grave goods.
The dimensions of the Mammen style belt fitting are 2 x 1.8 cm.
You can buy the Viking belt fitting made of high-quality bronze or in real silver-plated.
Fastening: There are four pins on the back of the Viking belt buckle. To fasten the fitting, simply insert the pins through the corresponding holes in the leather. Use pliers to bend the tip of each pin inwards a little. If you then tap the pins flat with a hammer, the tip will sink into the leather and the belt fitting will be stable and flat on the belt.
The Mammen style is an artistic style of the Viking Age and is also called the younger Jelling style. It was widespread in Scandinavia from the middle of the 10th to the beginning of the 11th century and was named after the discovery of the axe from the grave of Mammen in Jutland / Denmark. In the Viking Age, the Mammen style was mainly used for the decoration of ostentatious utensils and jewellery made of metal, as well as for horn work or effigy stones.
