Strap fitting "Fleur de Lys" from the late Middle Ages.

This delicate strap fitting in the shape of a fleur de lys is modelled on an English pendant and dates from the late 15th century Middle Ages.

The dimensions of the medieval fitting "fleur de lys" are 1.8 x 1.4 cm.

The strap fitting is made of high-quality bronze.

Fastening: There are four pins on the back of the medieval strap fitting. To attach them, simply pass them through the corresponding holes in the leather. It is best to use pliers to bend the tip of the pin inwards a little. If you then tap the pins flat with a hammer, the tip will sink into the leather and the strap fitting will be stable and flat on the belt.

In the Middle Ages, the lily was a symbol of purity and innocence and symbolised the patronage of the Virgin Mary. Through the tripartite division of the flower, the lily symbolises the Holy Trinity of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit in the Christian context. According to legend, the lily was presented to the Frankish Merovingian king Clovis I by an angel descending from heaven in the early Middle Ages, and so the lily was also considered the coat of arms of the French royal house throughout the Middle Ages.
