Fitting for a medieval belt in the shape of a flower.
This medieval belt fitting in the shape of a stylized flower was made after a model from France that dates to the 14th century.
The bronze fitting comes from a medieval belt find from Compiègne and is now on display in the Musée national du Moyen Âge. Link to the original belt fitting...
The dimensions are 1.8 x 1.8 cm.
The medieval belt fitting is made of high-quality bronze.
Fastening: There are two pins on the back of the medieval belt fitting. To attach the belt stud, simply pass them through the corresponding holes in the leather. It is best to use pliers to bend the tip of the pin inwards a little. If you then tap it with a hammer, the tip will sink into the leather and the belt fitting will be stable and flat on the belt.
In medieval heraldry, all plants of the natural plant kingdom, especially flowers such as roses and lilies, but also components such as blossoms, leaves and fruits could be used as motifs for coats of arms. With a few exceptions, the plants are usually highly stylised or ornamented.
