Viking bead distributor in the shape of a raven.

Expressive Viking chain distributor in the shape of a raven, based on a historical model from the 10th century.

The historical original for this chain distributor from the Viking Age was a hook for leg wraps, which was found in Jaroslav / Russia, and on Gotland / Sweden.

Link to the historical model...

Especially in Finland and the Baltic States, but also on Gotland, such chain distributors were very common in the Viking Age. The brooches worn in pairs with chain distributors were an important part of women's costumes in North-Eastern Europe and are therefore often found in women's graves from the Viking Age, often with several chains on top of each other.

The raven chain distributor is equipped with a hook for attaching to the brooch and three eyelets on the back for attaching chains or ribbons. Depending on the application, two, three or even four chains can be attached to the distributor.

Including the hook the raven chain distributor measures 5,5 x 2 cm.

You can buy the raven distributor in high-quality bronze or genuine silver-plated.
Alternatively, you can also order it in 925 sterling silver (please note delivery time).

The price is for a single chain distributor, so please order two for a pair.

The raven is a recurring element in the myths of mankind, and the North Germanic tribes also revered the raven as a creature sent by the gods due to its cleverness.

In the legends of the Vikings, the two ravens Hugin and Munin were the faithful companions of the Norse god Odin, who sent them out into the world every morning and brought him new news every evening.

Odin is also known as Hrafnáss "raven god" and was the god of wisdom. The raven Hugin represented thought, thinking and wisdom per se, while the raven Munin represented memory, recollection and omniscience.
