Medieval pendant based on a Merovingian brooch.

This high-quality pendant is based on an early medieval Bavarian bird's whirl brooch from the Merovingian period.

The original disc brooch, which was the model for this early medieval pendant, was found in Aschheim in southern Germany and dates to the Merovingian period around the 6th century.

The motif shows four birds of prey heads with eyes made of red glass flanked by four necks decorated with braided bands, looking to the left and arranged in a whirlpool.

Our replica corresponds to the original dimensions of the brooch and is offered in high-quality bronze and silver-plated.
Dimensions: 4,6 cm.

A black leather strap in 1 m length is enclosed with the pendant.

The Bavarian burial 10 from Aschheim dates to around 600 AD and consisted of an oval burial pit with the remains of an older woman who had worn a disc brooch in the shape of a bird's whirl brooch on her right shoulder under her chin. Next to it, several beads, a jewellery pin and a ring were recovered.
