Bowie knife-like Viking blade from Hedeby.
This knife blade in broken-back shape was made after a find from Hedeby, the type 6, which was the most used blade shape there.
The "Hedeby" Viking knife blade is equipped with a tang, which is inserted into the wooden or bone handle for attachment.
For optical reasons, the "Hedeby" knife blade was left with its black surface, which gives the knife blade a rustic appearance and predestines it for use on historical knives.
Dimensions of the knife blade from Hedeby:
Total length 14 cm
Cutting edge 8 cm
Blade width 1.8 / 2 cm
Blade back 0.3 cm
Handle tang 6 cm
The knife blade is made of 1085 carbon steel and is well sharpened. The hardness of the blade is 54 to 56 Rockwell.
