Nalbinding needle made of genuine horn.
This needle for nalbinding is made of genuine water buffalo horn and carefully polished so that the needle glides through the wool particularly well.
Nalbinding needles were already widespread in Viking times and in the Middle Ages and were used to carry out the elaborate weaving work of needle binding. Needle binding needles are flat, unlike sewing needles.
The technique of needle binding, known to the Vikings, is something like the precursor of crochet. Unlike weaving, it can also be used to make three-dimensional textile objects - hats, socks or gloves. Needle weave creates a dense, warm fabric.
Our needle binding needle made of horn has a very smooth surface. This makes it easy to guide through the wool weave without getting stuck. The decorative carving on the head of the needle makes it nice and easy to grip.
Dimensions of the horn needle: approx. 8 x 0.8 cm.
