Viking bronze arrow nock.
This detailed replica of a Viking bronze nock is based on a find from the Viking town of Haithabu and dates to the 10th century.
Bronze nocks like this one were used on Viking arrows to protect the sensitive end of the arrow, the so-called nock, into which the bowstring was inserted before the shot.
At the lower end of the bronze nock is a small pin which is inserted into the wooden shaft and fixed there.
The nock is made of high-quality cast bronze and measures 2 x 1 cm.
