Bota leather bottle - medieval wineskin.
This leather wineskin, called bota drinking bottle, is in the tradition of leather shepherd's flasks from the Middle Ages.
The special opening of the bota makes it possible to pour a thin stream from the drinking tube directly into the mouth without having to touch the opening of the leather flask. This is making the bota ideal for a drink at a medieval get-together or when travelling in a larp.
The bota drinking tube is available in a classic straight or curved kidney shape and has a capacity of 1 litre. Dimensions: 28 x 17 cm.
The Bota shepherd's flask is made of rustic suede leather with a hygienic plastic inlay, carrying strap and screw-on cap. The lid of the leather flask can be unscrewed for filling to create a larger opening.
It is advisable not to fill the bota wineskin with food that tends to spoil, such as milk.
The traditionally produced bota is also known as a shepherd's bottle for good reason, as shepherds, farmers and farm labourers took the bota with them every day for a cool drink during their arduous work in the fields. In contrast to our somewhat more modern leather bottle, the original bota had a sealing coating of pitch on the inside. The real drinking tube was therefore only used for wine and had to be stored horizontally when filled without trapping air.
