Print manufacturer information

Viking bone weaving board for board weaving.

Here you can buy a handcrafted and authentic bone weaving board that is modelled on Viking and medieval finds.

The medieval weaving board is made from a single piece of bone and carefully smoothed.

The dimensions of the bone weaving board are 4 x 4 cm with five holes in 5 mm diameter.

Towards the sides, the thickness of the weaving board decreases from 2 mm in the middle to 1 mm at the sides.

This means that the individual weaving boards only rest in the middle and slide very nicely over each other, which simplifies handling and also reduces the weight.

Weaving boards made of bone were already commonly used by the Germanic tribes for board weaving, and were also used by the Vikings until the Middle Ages.
There are several finds of historical weaving boards made of bone from the Middle Ages. Link to an original weaving board...

Board weaving involves using a larger or smaller number of boards to weave a narrow band, hence the name board weaving.
By twisting the boards together in a certain way, an almost infinite number of different patterns is possible.
