Round Viking stud in Borre style from Birka.

The model for this Viking fitting, that you can buy here, was a small disc brooch in so-called Borre style from the 9th - 10th centuries, which was found in the Viking town of Birka in grave 967.

The original disc brooch from Birka is now in the Swedish National Museum, Statens Historiska Museet, Stockholm. Link to the historical model...

The Viking Borre style belt stud is available in brass or silver color made from zinc casting.

Dimensions: 2.5 x 0.5 cm

On the back of the Viking decorative rivet is a pin 5 mm long. To attach the rivet, simply put on the small cap supplied and securely fasten it with a few light blows of the hammer.

The Viking town of Birka was one of the most important trading places of the Vikings in the area of the Baltic Sea and was already founded around 800 AD. Birka was located on the island Björkö, the Birch Island, in the Swedish Lake Mälaren in the realm of the Svear, barely 30 km away from today's Stockholm.
During excavations, a large number of finds were found, not only from the culture of the Vikings, which provide insights into life, crafts and trade in the Viking Age.
