The Iron Age belt hook buckle from Bornholm.
Here you can buy a replica of an Iron Age belt hook. This historical hooked buckle is simply inserted through two slots in the belt and hooked into the desired belt hole on the other side.
The belt hook is hand-forged according to a historical model from the Scandinavian Iron Age and has its model in the hook buckle of Bornholm, which dates to 500 - 300 BC.
The artfully forged iron has a beautiful matt black surface, and the elegantly curled ends make this belt hook almost a small piece of art.
The iron belt hook has the dimensions: 8 x 5.5 cm. Suitable for belts 4 to 6 cm wide.
One of the best-known belt hooks of the pre-Roman Iron Age comes from the Danish island of Bornholm and dates to 500 - 300 BC. It is now in the possession of the Danish National Museum. Interestingly, a belt hook with exactly the same dimensions was also found in the excavations in Virasforsen in southern Finland.
Hook buckles of the same type have also been found in Uppland, Sweden, in the cremation burial ground of Rasbo, as well as in Härlanda near Gothenburg and in Grimstad / Norway, and they all date to the Roman Iron Age. These hooked buckles are often wrongly attributed to the Viking Age, from which, however, no belt hooks are known.
