Replica of a Rus belt fitting from the Viking Age.
This detailed replica of a Rus belt fitting was made after a 10th-century model from the Viking settlement of Chernigov in Ukraine.
Such heart-shaped fittings were typical of the splendid belts of the Rus and Magyars and were conveyed via the great trade routes as far as Scandinavia, which is why belt fittings of the Eastern type are also very often found in Viking graves.
The Rus belt buckle measures 2 x 1.8 cm and is made of high-quality bronze as well as being available in genuine silver-plated.
Fastening: There are four pins on the back of the Viking Age bronze fitting. To fasten the decorative rivets, simply insert them through the corresponding holes in the leather. It is best to use pliers to bend the tip of the pin inwards a little. If you then tap the pins flat with a hammer, the tip sinks into the leather and the decorative rivet is attached to the belt in a stable and flat manner.
