Bronze fitting in the Urnes style of the Viking Age.

This bronze fitting was inspired by models in Urnes style, which was very common at the end of the Viking Age from 1000 to 1100 AD.

The Viking Age bronze fitting is designed in the shape of two serpents and measures 2.7 x 2.7 cm.

In addition to its use as a belt stud, it can also be used as a strap end or as a fitting for bags or other leather articles of the Viking Age.

The bronze fitting is made of high-quality bronze and is also available in real silver-plated.

Fastening: There are pins on the back of the bronze fitting. To attach the fitting, simply pass them through the corresponding holes in the leather. Use pliers to bend the tip of the pin inwards a little. If you then tap the pins flat with a hammer, the tip will sink into the leather and the bronze fitting will be stable and flat on the leather.

The Urnes style was used as a decorative element on a variety of jewellery towards the end of the Viking Age and was widespread in northern Europe from Ireland to Russia. The stave church of Urnes, in the Norwegian village of Ornes near the Sognefjord, gave the style its name. It was built around 1100 and is considered the oldest stave church in the world. The Urnes Stave Church combines the traditions of Viking art with Celtic influences and the architectural forms of the Romantic period and thus gave its name to an entire art movement, the Urnes style.
