Magyar belt fitting from the Viking Age.
This replica of a Viking-period belt fitting of the Magyars is based on a historical model from Karos-Eperjesszög in Hungary.
Bronze belt fittings were typical of the splendid belts of the Rus and Magyars and were passed on to the Vikings via the great trade routes as far as Scandinavia. They served as an important symbol of status and rank within the society there.
The Magyar belt fitting measures 1.6 x 1.1 cm.
It is made of high-quality bronze and is also available in real silver-plated.
Fastening: There are two pins on the back of the Magyar bronze fitting. To fasten the decorative rivets, simply insert them through the corresponding holes in the leather. It is best to use pliers to bend the tip of the pin inwards a little. If you then tap the rivet pins flat with a hammer, the tip will sink into the leather and the decorative rivet will be fixed stably and flat on the belt.
