Legionary buckle after a find from Herculaneum.
This detailed replica of a magnificent Roman belt buckle is made of brass after a historical original from Herculaneum (Italy) and dates to around 80 AD.
Buckles like this one were typical for the belts of Roman legionaries, called cingulum in antiquity, and are found in large numbers in the find material of the Roman period.
Dimensions of the legionary buckle: 7.5 x 5 cm.
The elaborately designed buckle has a hinge and rivet plate and is ideally suited for a 4 cm wide cingulum.
The Roman buckle is delivered without pre-drilled holes for attachment to the belt strap.
You decide for yourself where the buckle should be attached to the belt.
Drill holes in the desired place in the buckle and belt strap, rivet the buckle - and the authentic cingulum is ready.
Rivets for fastening are included.
