The acanthus strap end is available in brass or silver colour. Made from zamak zinc alloy.
Strap end dimensions: 4.3 x 3.5 cm.
The acanthus motif was widespread in antiquity and was used, for example, on Corinthian column capitals. In the Renaissance, this motif was revived in the representational and common art.
Since the Renaissance, the acanthus motif has been used particularly in goldsmithing and book illumination. The acanthus motif was also often used in connection with tombs, as it is associated with immortality and resurrection in a Christian context.
The strap end has three 5 mm long pins on the back, onto which small caps supplied are simply placed for fastening, and the end of the strap is fixed in place with a few light blows of the hammer.
