Medieval buckle made of bone for 1.8 cm width.
This medieval bone buckle was hand-carved from a single piece of bone.
Bone buckles have been in use since time immemorial, and several examples can be found in artefacts from the Viking Age and the Middle Ages.
The medieval bone buckle is fitted with a movable brass pin and measures approx. 4.5 x 3.5 x 0.4cm.
Suitable for 1.8 cm wide straps.
To attach it, the leather strap is thinned out at the end with a sharp knife and then pulled through the hole in the bone buckle. It can then be sewn or riveted to the strap.
