Fire-starter kit to make a fire like the Romans.

Here you can buy a fire-making kit with an authentic Roman fire steel replica, flint stone and instructions for making tinder.

The curved shape of the fire steel is typical of Roman times and was forged from carbon steel, which is why it produces sparks very easily.

The Roman fire-making kit contains the Roman fire steel in 8 x 3 cm as well as a large flint stone, the sharp edge of which makes it easy to produce sparks, and instructions in German and English on how to make your own tinder.

Make fire like the Romans did: With fire steel, flint and dry tinder, it is easy to start a crackling fire with just a little practice.

As soon as you strike a sharp edge of a flint with a fire steel, small sparks are created that quickly jump to the tinder. The tinder is held as close as possible to the edge of the flint.

Once a spark has caused the tinder to glow, it must be fed as quickly as possible with more tinder, such as birch paper, rotten wood fibres or thin pine shavings, while blowing constantly and evenly.
