Scale made of real bone in approx. 3 mm thickness.

This solid plate of real water buffalo bone is ideal for all kinds of work in the historical field, or for knife making as a handle shell or intermediate piece.

The bone scale has the dimensions ~12 x 3 cm and is about 3 mm thick. With these dimensions, the bone plate is ideally suited for making handle scales for knives.

The bone has been thoroughly cleaned and treated with hydrogen peroxide for a clean white.

Bone was used for a wide variety of purposes in ancient times, as bone can be easily sawed, turned, carved and ground. Bone is also incredibly strong and elastic. It is even possible to dye bone.

In ancient times and the Middle Ages, bone was therefore often used for spoons, combs, knife handles, dice, needles and much more.
