This long scale of water buffalo bone is perfectly suitable for all kinds of work or as a handle shell or as a base for a bone comb.

The bone scale has the dimensions ~120 x 33 x 2 mm and is ideal for making bone combs.
For example, the tines of Viking combs are made from this material.

The bone was thoroughly cleaned and treated with hydrogen peroxide for a clean white.

Bone was already needed in ancient times for a wide variety of purposes, as bone can be sawed, turned, carved and ground with little effort. Bone is also extremely stable and elastic, and even the dyeing of bone is possible.

Therefore, in ancient times and the Middle Ages bone scales were often used for needles, combs, spoons, knife handles, dice, and much more.
