Fire starter kit from the late Middle Ages.
Here you can buy a medieval fire starter kit with hand-forged fire steel of the late Middle Ages, tinder and flint.
The B-shaped shape of the fire steel was widely used in the late Middle Ages. The fire steel is made of carbon steel and produces sparks easily.
The medieval fire-making set comes with a half-round flint, which is very good for creating a spark, and nitrided tinder made from so-called cattail (bulrush) in a waterproof plastic bag.
The medieval fire starter kit includes:
Medieval fire steel 9.5 x 4.5 cm.
5 grams of tinder
Half round flint
Instructions for use in German and English.
Make a fire like in the Middle Ages: With a bit of practice you can easily start a fire with fire steel, flint and dry tinder.
To do this, simply strike the flint steel against the sharp edge of the flint stone, which immediately produces sparks that jump to the tinder if it is close enough to the edge of the flint stone.
Once the tinder has been made to glow, you can create an initial delicate flame by blowing steadily and carefully, quickly adding more tinder. Well-rotted wood fibres, birch paper or thin pine shavings are best suited for this.
