Large Viking knife with damascus steel blade.

This very high-quality Viking knife with damascus blade was inspired by historical models from the Viking period between 800 and 1000 and impresses with its beautiful design.

Such a knife was very typical for the Vikings Era and therefore still today excellent for the historical camp life in the Viking re-enactment and due to its strong blade and the well-balanced walnut wood handle suitable for just about every job.

The oval shaped knife handle is made of stabilized walnut wood with inlays of water buffalo bone, brass and leather and is polished to a shine. At the end of the handle there is a small ring, which allows the Viking knife to be easily pulled out of the sturdy cowhide sheath.

However, the impressing knife blade made of genuine damascus steel with 176 layers and a hardness of 56 - 58 HCR Rockwell requires special attention. Knives of damascus steel were already very popular in the early Middle Ages because these blades are characterized by both hardness and elasticity and were at the same time cut-resistant and nearly unbreakable.

The blade of this Viking knife is forged from two different types of steel in wild damascus. Both types of steel together result in a particularly beautiful and characterfully flamed damascus.

On the one hand, carbon steel AISI 1095 is used, a classic among knife steels. As an unalloyed and rust-resistant tool steel, it is very tough and can be sharpened well, with a solid service life.
On the other hand, AISI 4340 is used, a nickel-containing steel with good properties, which when used in damask steel produces beautiful bright areas and noble contrasts.

The Viking knife has the dimensions:
knife length 26 cm
Blade length 14 cm
Blade width 2,8 cm
Knife back 0,3 cm
