Replica of a Viking bowl brooch from Finland.

This pointy bowl brooch replica in the jelling style of the Viking period of the 9th century is based on a Finnish find from Karelia.

This beautiful Viking oval brooch replica is beautifully polished to a shine, so that the design of the brooch stands out well from the background and the shell brooch on the garment is beautifully shown to advantage.

On the back of this Finnish oval brooch is a stable needle, so that strong, heavy woollen fabrics can be closed especially well with the bowl brooch.

Pointy bowl brooches were common during the Viking Age, especially in Finland and the Baltic States, and were part of women's garments, where they connected the apron with the garment on the left and right shoulder.

Dimensions: 6 x 3.8 x 1.8 cm.

You can buy the Viking bowl brooch replica in high-quality bronze and in genuine silver-plated.

Viking oval brooch was generally worn in pairs Therefore, it is advisable to order two pieces of this Viking jewellery.

The price refers to one piece.

From 800 to 1000 A.D. the oval brooch was used for the Viking women's clothing and is often found in Viking era women's burials. The respective design and execution provided information about the social status of the wearer.

The bowl brooch is the most common type of brooch in the Viking Age and can be found in finds from Ireland to the Volga. Apart from inexpensive mass-produced goods and simple copies, there were also extremely filigree, gold-plated silver bowl brooches of the highest quality.

But whether inexpensive or precious: the Viking bowl brooch always served in pairs to fasten the shoulder straps of the upper garment.
In addition, one or more chains were often hung one above the other between the oval brooches and sometimes additionally attached to a round disc brooch or trefoil brooch in the middle of the chest.

A detailed treatise on the bowl brooch can be found by Jan Petersen in the publication "Vikingetide smykker" from 1928.
