Replica of a medieval aiglet made of sheet brass, which was made according to historical models from the late Middle Ages.

Link to an original medieval aiglet...

From about 1200 - 1600, i.e. during the end of the High Middle Ages, through the Late Middle Ages and up to the beginning of the Renaissance, aiglets were a part of the garment, which was provided with a wealth of lacing.

The medieval aiglet was usually simply sewn to a ribbon or riveted to it with a small piece of wire. To close the garment, holes were simply pierced in the fabric, and these were then hemmed with buttonhole stitch to prevent fraying or tearing of the fabric.

Dimensions: The medieval aiglet measures 4 cm. Diameter 5 mm.
