The Slavic Lunula in the shape of a half moon is emblematic of the female powers and thus symbolises the power of the moon. Among other things, the lunula amulet was supposed to ensure the protection of the unborn child and protect the mother from harm.
The Lunula charm was already widespread among the Romans. Moon pendants are found as a symbol of the Roman moon goddess Luna from the 2nd century AD onwards in many Roman settlements, field camps and burial sites. Likewise, Lunula amulets were also popular among the Germanic and Slavic peoples.
