Here you can buy leather scales in rectangular shape which are made of a supple yet firm nubuck leather.
The leather scales made of nubuck leather are 1.5 - 2 mm thick and are ideally suited for making, for example, a light and mobile scale armour.
Each of these rectangular scales is provided with four holes with which they can be sewn or riveted onto a carrier material such as fabric or leather.
The dimensions of the leather scales are 8.0 x 5.0 cm, the hole size is 3 mm.
The colours black, brown and dark red are available, whereby the leather scales can vary in colour to some extent, which creates an attractive effect when the individual colours are combined with each other.
The pack contains 50 leather scales of one colour each.
Leather scales have been used since ancient times by the Persians, Greeks and Romans to make scale armour and were still in use by the Byzantines and Vikings until the late Middle Ages. Besides leather armour scales, those made of bronze, iron and even bone or horn were also used.
