Anglo-Saxon scabbard throat mount.
This detailed replica of a scabbard throat for a sword is made after an Anglo-Saxon model from the 5th to 6th century.
The original sword scabbard throat was made of gilded silver and was found on the Isle of Wight in England. The upper part of the mouth plate was decorated with a decorative band with niello inlays. Below this was an openwork section with two bearded helmeted heads at each end.
The dimensions of the sword scabbard throat are 5.2 x 1.5 cm.
The inlet for the sword is 4.8 x 1.2 cm.
Due to the rather small dimensions, this scabbard throat is perfectly suited for a sax scabbard.
The throat is made of high-quality bronze and is also available in real silver-plated.
The scabbard throat is attached to the scabbard and is best fixed to the side with a so-called gap-filling adhesive. In addition, there are small openings in the motif so that supplementary securing with thin pins or nails is also possible.
