Roman bone spoon from the 1st - 3rd century AD.
This intricately carved bone spoon reproduction is based on a Roman find dating to the 1st - 3rd century AD.
The Roman bone spoon is carefully polished for a pleasantly smooth surface and, like the historical model, has striking ornamentation.
The striking features of this Roman bone spoon reproduction are the distinctive decorations on the handle of the spoon and the end worked out in the shape of a hoof.
Dimensions: 14 x 3 x 0.5 cm.
Bone, together with horn, was in a sense the plastic of the ancient world. It was easy to obtain, easy to work with and versatile in its use. A large number of objects made of bone are known from Roman households. Spoons made of bone were particularly common in Roman times.
As the Roman bone spoon is made by hand and only in small quantities, it does not have any food certification and is therefore only offered as a prop, so to speak, which is not certified for food use.
