Medieval button in the shape of an acorn.
This elegant button in the shape of an acorn is based on a historical model from the Tudor period and is perfect for late medieval and Renaissance garb.
The medieval button complements perfectly authentic garb in medieval re-enactment.
With the solidly cast eyelet on the underside, the medieval button can be sewn onto the garment with just a few stitches.
The size of the "Acorn" button is 1.2 cm. Made of Zamak.
The button came into fashion late in Europe and was hardly used before the middle of the 13th century. The button of the Middle Ages was often spherical in shape and made of pewter. It was not until the beginning of the 14th century that buttons covered with fabric also appeared.
In the Middle Ages, buttons with small eyelets were particularly common. The button with two or four holes that we are familiar with today was hardly common before the 16th century. In contrast to today, the button in the Middle Ages was usually attached directly to the edge of the garment. An eyelet was then placed on the opposite side. This always left a narrow gap between the two sides of the garment.
